- Usually only a single person will ever use this computer.
- Computer is installed in an office that is used only by that person, and is normally closed/locked when that person is not around.
- Occasionally a visitor and/or custodian may use this computer.

Usage Guidelines
- User may install outside software (purchased or downloaded) at his own risk; Technology Director reserves the right to remove any software that is apparently causing problems with the computer or system.
- Installed software may be personalized to the primary user.
- User may install outside equipment (purchased privately) at his own risk; recommended that user check with the Technology Director first.
bullet User is welcome to use the computer for personal reasons on their own time. - User may use local hard drive to store files, business or personal, but is warned that no backups exist for this information, and the Technology Director will not accept any responsibility for any files lost for any reason whatsoever. It is the users’ responsibility to make backups of their data files!
Classroom Computers
(Limited Multiple Users)
Identified By
- Installed in a classroom (or other teaching/study room).
- Normally used by a specific teacher/teachers.
- Limited student access, at teacher discretion.
Usage Guidelines
- Teacher IS RESPONSIBLE for any software or other files installed by themselves or other users/students while computer is assigned to this classroom/teacher.
- Teacher may install outside software (purchased or downloaded) at their own risk; Technology Director reserves the right to remove any software that is apparently causing problems with the computer or system.
- Installed software may be personalized to the teacher at the teacher's risk; remember that students are using this computer, and will have access to files created by software that was installed in the teacher's name.
- User may install outside equipment (purchased privately or by the school or district) at their own risk; recommended that user check with the Technology Director first. Recommended that Technology Director install any additional equipment, limited to his availability. Teachers who have established a level of technical proficiency to the satisfaction of the Technology Director are encouraged to install equipment, but please notify the Technology Director.
- User is welcome to use the computer for personal reasons on their own time.

Staff-Access Multi-User Computers

- Usually installed in Staff-only spaces (school secretaries desk, teacher lounge, etc.).
- Normally used by multiple employees during day/evening. Computer normally has a local printer, may not have network printer access.
- A problem caused by a single staff member may result in multiple staff members losing needed computer access and unable to do their jobs.
Usage Guidelines
- Show respect for the other people who use this computer. Don't make changes you can't fix yourself.
bullet Outside software (purchased or downloaded) should not be installed without permission from department supervisor. Staff who install software without permission are responsible for that software, and for any problems it may have caused. - Supervisor may install outside software (purchased or downloaded) at his own risk; Technology Director reserves the right to remove any software that is apparently causing problems with the computer or system.
- Installed software should NEVER be personalized; software that must be personalized (private email software and similar things that require a name or password to start) should not be installed at all, remember that other staff are using this computer may have access to files created by such software.
- Under no circumstances may users install outside equipment. This rule may be bent by Staff members who have established a level of technical proficiency to the satisfaction of the Technology Director. These individuals may install equipment/software, but please notify the Technology Director.
- User is welcome to use the computer for personal reasons on their own time, and only if this does not interfere with the normal operation of the department and its other staff.
- Staff should not store personal files of any type on the local hard drive for any reason, except temporarily. Keep in mind that no backups exist for this information, and the Technology Director will not accept any responsibility for any files lost for any reason whatsoever. In addition, Technology Director reserves the right to delete absolutely anything for any reason at all. Remember - a computer with a hard drive that is too full will crash.
Student-Access Computers
(Lab/Classroom - Multi-user)
Identified By
- Multiple computers installed in a specific location for Student Access
- Normally used by students, may be used by Staff at need.
- Computers rarely have local printers, normally connected to nearby network printer.
Usage Guidelines
- Show respect for the other people who use this computer. Don't make changes you can't fix yourself.
- Student should not be left without supervision when using these (or any) computers.
- Computer has multiple usage restrictions imposed by Technology Director. No downloading or installation of outside software for any reason. Staff/Students who install software without permission are responsible for that software, and for any problems it may have caused. Technology Director reserves the right to ask that Staff caught installing software be receive a written or verbal warning from their supervisor (at the supervisor's discretion).
- Installed software should NEVER be personalized; software that must be personalized (private email software and similar things that require a name or password to start) should not be installed at all except by the Technology Director.
- Under no circumstances may users install outside equipment.
- User is welcome to use the computer for personal reasons, if no other student needs the computer for school-related work or activities.
- Staff should not store personal files of any type on the local hard drive for any reason, even temporarily. That's what floppy disks and ZIP disks are for. Keep in mind that no backups exist for this information, and the Technology Director will not accept any responsibility for any files lost for any reason whatsoever. In addition, Technology Director reserves the right to delete absolutely anything from the local hard drive for any reason at all. Remember - a computer with a hard drive that is too full will crash.
Identified By

- Usually will not have a directly-attached printer.
- May not have a directly-attached keyboard, mouse or monitor.
- Usually provided with battery backup (uninterruptible power supplies).

- No changes should be made to this computer without the express permission and instructions of the Technology Director, his designee, or other technical authority.
- Students should not have any physical access to any server computer under any circumstances.
- Computer has multiple usage restrictions imposed by Technology Director. Attempts to defeat these usage restrictions will be considered hacking and/or vandalism.
- Under no circumstances may users install outside software without the express permission and instructions of the Technology Director, his designee, or other technical authority.
- Under no circumstances may users install outside hardware without the express permission and instructions of the Technology Director, his designee, or other technical authority.
- Staff are encouraged to store their data files on district servers as appropriate. District servers will perform regular scheduled backup tasks (as hardware becomes available) and the Technology Director accepts responsibility for the integrity and safety of server-stored data.
- Staff members who have established a level of technical proficiency to the satisfaction of the Technology Director are welcome to make basic changes to the content of the server, and to make basic changes the server itself (adding and removing users, shared software, access permissions, and similar) in cooperation with the Technology Director.
